HR Digest reports that Microsoft will soon announce another massive round of layoffs, affecting several thousand people. While there have been no official announcements yet, the likelihood of such a development remains extremely high. The source points that Microsoft historically often makes personnel changes in January.

According to data from the anonymous professional network Blind, layoffs will likely affect mid-level managers, as well as employees holding non-core or duplicate positions. Developers working in the priority area of artificial intelligence will not be affected.
The scale of the next round of layoffs is still unknown. Reportedly, Microsoft could lay off 5% to 10% of its workforce, or 11,000 to 22,000 people. Other sources predict a 3-4% reduction, or approximately 6,000 to 9,000 people.
If the rumors are confirmed, the layoffs could begin as early as January 18, 2026.
