Microsoft continues to experiment with artificial intelligence-powered features in its software. Now Redmond software giant wants to add AI-based features to some of the inbox apps in Windows 11. However, some of the additions may require a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) or a Machine Vision Processor (VPU).
Photos app
The Photos app may get a feature that will allow you to identify people and objects in images. It may also allow removing unnecessary objects from photos. A similar feature is popular on Android and iOS smartphones, so it's not surprising that Microsoft is adding the same.
Snipping Tool & Camera
The Snipping Tool app will get optical character recognition (OCR) technology. It will allow extracting text from an image for subsequent copying to the clipboard. In addition, OCR technology has already appeared in internal builds of the Camera application.
Paint
And finally, Microsoft is trying to bring generative artificial intelligence into the Paint app. The technology is supposed to be based on Bing Image Creator. Users will be able to ask Paint to draw an image with certain parameters with AI.
At the moment, the release date of these updates is not known. At the same time, Microsoft intends to more actively implement artificial intelligence in Windows, and such changes are a logical step in this direction.
