As you may remember, starting with build 17063, the classic Microsoft Paint app in Windows 10 comes with a "Product Alert" button. Clicking on the button opens a dialog that suggests that the app will be occasionally replaced with Paint 3D, and will be moved to the Store. It looks like this plan has changed.
Paint 3D is going to be a new Universal Windows Platform app and its user interface will be completely different from Classic Paint. It supports 3D objects and pen input. It comes with tools like markers, brushes, various art tools to help users create objects. The app has tools to transform 2D drawings into 3D objects.
Many people were not happy with this move from Microsoft. They were not ready to exchange the good old mspaint.exe with a completely different Store app because the old Paint has its own advantages and Paint 3D does not surpass it in every way. Classic Paint always loaded much faster, and had a more usable and friendlier user interface with superior mouse and keyboard usability.
However, in the latest Insider Preview build of Windows 10 Microsoft has silently removed the Product Alert notice. See the screenshot from build 18334:
The button is missing in the toolbar.
While the change wasn't officially announced, Microsoft might have figured out using the collected Telemetry data that only a small number of users actually use Paint 3D instead of the classic Paint app. So, we will see what actually happens with Paint this fall.

They really need to bring back Windows 7 as well!
Actually, it’s hard to believe they would keep any desktop applications much longer. They’ll probably end up making a version of the 2D MS Paint into a universal app just because universal apps are so much better. Personally, I’ve decided to never use any universal apps… and every single day I’m constantly worried I may be missing out on some of the best software ever made in universal app form. Whenever I look at the Microsoft Store, there are so many unbelievable temptations but I just keep saying “NO!”. I need to stay strong and not give in to UNIVERSAL APP TEMPTATION!
They seriously need to bring back Windows 7 and the good ol’ classic theme engine! I can’t stand it with this “flat” this and “flat” that plus the “flat” icons!
I don’t even use Universal Windows Platform “apps”, I just use the good old Win32 model.
