On March 25, 2021, Microsoft released a new Windows 10 21H1 build in the Beta Channel with a single fix related to printing graphical content in documents. Shortly after the update went out, insiders started reporting troubles with the installation. When attempting to install Windows 10 build 19043.906 (KB5000842), Windows Update shows 0x800f091f error.
In the official Windows Blog, Microsoft has published an update to the original post, notifying users about the problem. Microsoft now approaches the final stage of developing the next Windows 10 major update. Version 21H1 is now available on all insider channels and for commercial validation. As for the stable release, expect the announcement in a couple of weeks.
Despite being a "major" update, do not expect much from the first feature update in 2021. The most significant change in Windows 10 21H1 is multiple Windows Hello camera support. Also, there are few additional minor improvements. You can learn what is new in Windows 10 21H1 here.
The lack of new features and capabilities in Windows 10 21H1 does not mean Microsoft has given up on its flagship product. In fact, many changes are coming to Windows 10 in the second half of 2021. Some of these changes are already available in the Dev Channel. For example, redesigned icons for File Explorer and Windows Settings, enhanced virtual desktops, File Explorer improvements, the News and Interests widget, clipboard and on-screen keyboard refinements, and many more. In 2021, Microsoft wants to rejuvenate Windows 10 and make it more modern and exciting.
