Microsoft is shifting priorities to rebuild trust in Windows

Throughout its history, Windows operating systems have faced repeated criticism and poor decisions, but the situation with Windows 11 has proven to be a true test for even the most loyal users. Constant bugs, performance issues, intrusive advertising, and the aggressive introduction of AI features that don't always live up to expectations have brought the system to a breaking point.

It seems Microsoft has finally realized the negative impact of the situation. The Verge editor Tom Warren, citing his own sources, reports that the company has decided to change strategy and urgently redirected resources to fixing fundamental issues in Windows 11 to stem the decline in trust in the platform. Internally, Microsoft is calling this new tactic "swarming."

Head of Windows and Devices, Pavan Davuluri, confirmed this information in a comment to The Verge:

"The feedback we’re receiving from our community of passionate customers and Windows Insiders has been clear. We need to improve Windows in ways that are meaningful for people. This year you will see us focus on addressing pain points we hear consistently from customers: improving system performance, reliability, and the overall experience of Windows."

Microsoft has done a good job recently improving driver stability and reducing the number of "black screens of death" (BSODs), but it's not enough. The company needs to address serious performance issues with File Explorer and address the fact that games originally designed for Windows often run better on Linux than on Windows itself.

For now, it is known that the company is working on fixing the dark theme of Windows 11 and modernizing OS components that have been virtually abandoned over the past decade.
