Microsoft ends support for Windows 11 Maps App. It will be removed from the Microsoft Store in July 2025. Along with this, the company is going to release an update that will make the installed app unusable.
The official support site claims:
Maps is deprecated and will be removed from the Microsoft Store by July 2025. At this time, there will also be a final update to the app from the Store that makes it nonfunctional.
After July 2025, you won't be able to reinstall the Maps app, even if you previously had it installed. Unless you manually uninstall the app, your navigation routes and map URLs will remain saved, but you won't be able to use them in the app.
Earlier, Microsoft has killed the APIs that used by the app.
The Windows Maps app in Windows 11 is an all-in-one tool designed to help users navigate and explore locations with ease. It integrates with the Microsoft ecosystem and offers features like turn-by-turn navigation, real-time traffic updates, and detailed maps for driving, walking, biking, and public transit.
Highlights include:
- 3D views and street-level imagery for a more immersive experience.
- Integration with Microsoft accounts to save your favorite places and sync data across devices.
- Support for voice directions and offline maps for areas with limited connectivity.
- Advanced search features to discover nearby points of interest, such as restaurants, gas stations, and landmarks.
While not as feature-rich as some third-party mapping apps, the Windows Maps app provides a clean, native interface that works well in the Windows 11 environment. Now, if you are using this app, you should find an alternative to it.
