Microsoft is again adjusting Windows 11 update names after backlash from users

Last week, Microsoft introduced a simpler way to name Windows 11 updates. It removed details like the computer type (such as x64), Windows version, and release date from the update titles. Instead, it planned to keep only the update type, its KB number, and the build or driver version.

Many users quickly complained. They said the new names made it hard to tell when an update was released. The latter is a key detail for troubleshooting and planning.

In response, Microsoft listened to the feedback and rolled back some of the changes. The company now says it will review user input carefully and likely add the release date back into future update names.
