Microsoft is killing Suggested actions, a brand new feature of Windows 11 that is intended to save your time when you copy some phone number or date. You can make are call or schedule an appointment with its help. But now Copilot can do this for you, so Suggested actions are set to bite the dust.
Suggested Actions is a feature in Windows 11, first introduced in build 25115. When you select specific text, such as a phone number or date, Windows displays a small flyout with useful actions related to the selection. Initially, the feature included two actions: making a call for a phone number and creating an event for a date. If Windows 11 recognizes the text as a phone number or date, it will show the relevant prompt for you to take action.
At the time of release, the most of the suggestions only worked in the US.
Now Suggested actions join the list of deprecated features in Windows 11.
The decision might be linked to the Click To Do feature, which offers similar functionality. Click To Do uses AI to analyze on-screen information and displays context-based action buttons. However, this feature is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, meaning it won't be available on older devices.
It's also possible that the Suggested Actions feature didn't gain much popularity. This could lead Microsoft to discontinue its development.
