A few days ago, Microsoft announced that they are going to release Windows 10 version 1903 previously known as "19H1" in May. Also, they revealed that its official name is "Windows 10 May 2019 Update". Additionally, the company announced that they are merging Skip Ahead and Fast Ring Insider rings, and offering them 20H1 builds.
Microsoft will begin releasing 19H2 bits to Insiders later this spring and will talk more about what it will look like in the near future.
So, after this change, the following release scheme will be used:
- Skip Ahead => Windows 10 20H1 builds
- Fast Ring => Windows 10 20H1 builds
- Slow Ring => 19H1
- Release Preview Ring => 19H1
If you are a Windows Insider, check out your Insider Program options and adjust them if needed, especially if you are interested in avoiding 20H1 builds.
As you can see, there is no Ring to receive 19H2 builds as of this writing.
We will learn how the 19H2 testing will go very soon. Microsoft is not entirely skipping this Windows version, however, they might be changing their development cycle by making the H2 release a service release, previously known as a Service Pack.
As of this writing, the final build of Windows 10 "May 2019 Update" is build 18362. It has been released to all Insider rings. The latest 20H1 build at this moment is 18865.
