Microsoft is rolling out a new AI-powered feature in Edge Beta that greatly improves the search through the browsing history. Dubbed “Enhanced search,” it allows users to quickly find previously visited websites using natural language queries. It can recognize synonyms, or even approximate phrases. So you should not even remember the site URL or exact page title.

The feature, currently available in Edge's beta channel builds, utilizes the on-device (local) machine learning model. The model training is performed solely on your browsing history. The more you browse, the more accurate is your history search.
According to Microsoft, no data is sent to the company’s servers.
“After this feature is turned on, sites you visit will be shown in enhanced history search results,” Microsoft noted in its release notes for the beta build. “An on-device model is trained using your data, which never leaves your device and is never sent to Microsoft.”
In addition to this new AI-powered history search, Microsoft is also enhancing media controls within Edge. The media flyout now includes prominent buttons to control the playback, and a progress bar. The update also improves picture-in-picture.
While the enhanced search feature is currently only available in beta versions, it won't be too difficult for Microsoft to bring it to the stable release.
