Yet another new feature made its appearance in the Canary branch of Microsoft Edge Chromium. There is a new feature that allows switching between the dark and light themes in Edge independently from the Personalization > Colors page in Settings .

A new release of Edge Canary, build 77.0.213.1, brings a new drop down menu which can be used to override the color scheme of the browser. With this new option, you can have the light theme in Windows, but the dark theme in Microsoft Edge.

The option can be found under Settings > Appearance > Theme.

To switch the browser theme in Microsoft Edge,

  1. Click on the menu button with three dots.
  2. Click on the Settings item.
  3. On the left, click on Appearance.
  4. On the right, select the desired color theme from the Theme drop down menu.

You are done!
