Microsoft today released Microsoft Edge 99 to everyone running the stable app version. It includes several new features, such as PDF thumbnail navigation, primary password protection for saved logins, and associate URLs to with specific profiles.
What's new in Edge 99
PDF Viewer
Navigation within PDF files is now very intuitive. Instead of the table of contents, you can click a thumbnail preview of the individual page on the left. This allows you to quickly find the data you are looking for within the document.
Auto-fill
As you may remember that in Edge, you can additionally secure the password auto-fill by typing your current Windows password. Starting in with Edge 99, you can create a custom primary password instead. This must be at least four characters long. You can also set whether it should be asked every time or once per browser session.
Profiles
When working with multiple profiles, you can make a list of websites for a specific profile. Once you open a page from the list, the browser will switch to the respective profile instantly.
The upcoming version 100
Starting with version 100, Microsoft Edge will use a three-digit version number in the User-Agent header, for example "Edg/100". Site owners can test this upcoming agent string by enabling the #force-major-version-to-100 experiment flag in edge://flags to ensure their User-Agent parsing logic is robust and works as expected.
Disable password manager for specific websites
Edge 99 includes a new policy to disable the built-in password manager for specific websites. The PasswordManagerBlocklist policy allows sysadmins to define the list of domains where Microsoft Edge won't offer to save logins and passwords.
There are more policies to play with. Check out this page to learn more about them.
