Microsoft Edge 102 stable is out, remains the world’s second popular browser

Microsoft today released a new stable version of the Edge browser. Version 102.0.1245.30 doesn't bring much on the consumer side. There are a few new policies for IT pros, and security fixes.

What's new in Edge 102

New policies

  • AllHttpAuthSchemesAllowedForOrigins - List of origins that allow all HTTP authentication
  • OutlookHubMenuEnabled - Allow users to access the Outlook menu
  • NetworkServiceSandboxEnabled - Enable the network service sandbox
  • UserAgentClientHintsGREASEUpdateEnabled - Control the User-Agent Client Hints GREASE Update feature

Security Fixes

As for security fixes, there are three of them. Two of them have high impact with the elevation of privilege vulnerability. The last one one has low impact and is related to spoofing. Check out these links.

You can download Edge from the official website. Existing users can open the menu (Alf+F) > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. This will make it immediately install the latest version.

Edge is getting more popular among Desktop users

Meanwhile, StatCounter has issued its updated report. According to their data collected in May 2022, Edge remains world's second popular web browser on Desktop. Its market share continues to grow, thought it increased slightly.

The values are as follows.

So in May, Edge only received +0.04 points on the Desktop. On mobile, it still doesn't have a significant number of users, being far behind Chrome, Safary, UC Browser, Samsung Internet, and others.
