Windows Maps API

UWP controls and Maps API are two things that allowed developers to integrate mapping features into their apps on the Windows platform.
Earlier in May 2024, Microsoft decided to merge the Bing Maps for Enterprise and Azure Maps services. In the future, Azure Maps will become Microsoft's main mapping platform, incorporating the best features of both services. So the classic maps API is left to bite the dust.
In fact, Microsoft promises to keep Windows UWP Map control and Windows Maps Platform API working, but they will no longer receive updates. The company strongly encourages developers using the Windows UWP Map control in their projects to begin migrating to a solution based on Azure Maps. They should consider to finish the migration before April 2026, without waiting for the end of support for the Bing Maps for Enterprise platform.
Surface Hub and Surface Hub 2S
Windows 10 is reaching its end of support this fall, on October 14, 2025. This means that users will be forced to either switch to Windows 11, or purchase a security update subscription under the ESU program, or remain on an unsupported system that will be vulnerable to new threats.
The end of support affects most editions of Windows 10, including Windows 10 Teams that runs on the Surface Hub devices. This means that the Surface Hub and Surface Hub 2S enterprise collaboration devices will also lose support. What's more, the company will disable the Microsoft Teams app on these devices, which can be critical for conference rooms.
Microsoft offers the following options for Surface Hub and Surface Hub 2S owners.
Surface Hub
Device replacement only. Support for both first-generation Surface Hub models will end on October 14, 2025.
Surface Hub 2S
Users of the Surface Hub 2S have the option to upgrade their devices in several ways. They can purchase a Surface Hub 3 compute cartridge to transition to a modern Teams Rooms system running on Windows 11, or they can take advantage of a free migration to Teams Rooms on Windows 11, available until October 14, 2025. Additionally, for those using the Surface Hub 2S for personal purposes rather than in conference rooms, upgrading to Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise is a suitable alternative.
