Microsoft has shown a new firmware version for Surface Duo running Android 12L with a new UI that replicates the Fluent Design of Windows 11. It brings with it an updated notification bar, new blur effects, and a redesigned Settings app with Windows 11-like icons. It supports changing system accent color automatically by picking it from the wallpaper.
Looks like Microsoft making Surface Duo as close as possible to Windows 11, so the user interface will be familiar to them, while utilizes the Android ecosystem. It even includes a feed section with widgets, the features you have on Windows 11.
It is expected that the new firmware version will be released before the end of this year. However, Microsoft didn't name the release date. The update will likely be available for both Surface Duo 1 and Surface Duo 2.
