Microsoft May Have Accidentally Revealed Windows 11 24H2 Release Date

Microsoft has detailed changes to Microsoft Copilot that will soon be available to customers on the techcommunity forum. The message states that the changes are aligned with the annual feature update for Windows 11 and will begin rolling out to customers on October 8, 2024.

This suggests that Microsoft plans to release the Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) in early October. As in previous updates, the rollout will occur in waves, meaning not all users will receive the new version on the release day. The update will only be available for devices that meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11.

Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) should become available as an optional update on September 24, 2024. The new version of the system will only be offered to those users who manually check for updates on the Windows Update page in Settings.

However, Microsoft claims that the dates posted on the forum aren't related to the release:

Editor’s note 9.18.2024 - The dates conveyed below are for our regular monthly servicing updates for supported versions of Windows 11 and unrelated to when Windows 11, version 24H2 will be generally available.

If so, the official release date for Windows 11 2024 Update remains unknown.
