Earlier in May, Microsoft revealed its plans to provide an ad platform for app publishers in the Windows Store. It would allow them to promote their products in search results when the user performs a relevant query. Now the change goes live, and the company invites developers to test it.
For that purpose, Microsoft runs a special tool, Microsoft Store Ads. It provides a convenient dashboard for advertisers. Using it, a company can specify the target audience and other campaign options. Currently, the ads will appear in search, as shown in the following screenshot.
The dashboard itself looks as follows.
Microsoft notes that only developers with published content on the Store can run ad campaigns. This should make ads contextual for customers.
The company collects feedback on how the advertisement platform works for its users. Those who are interested in testing it right now must feel a waitlist form here. Once Microsoft finishes collecting feedback, they will make all the necessary corrections and make the ad mechanism broader available.
