Microsoft has announced the start of testing for the Xbox Game Pass Core subscription, which will be replacing Xbox Live Gold. Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Ring Insiders are getting access to the new plan if they have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.
Once released on September 14th, users of the full Xbox Game Pass Core will gain access to a library of 25 games and online multiplayer capabilities. Testers of the subscription will have the opportunity to play games such as Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, State of Decay 2, and Doom Eternal.
On September 14th, Xbox Live Gold will be rebranded as Xbox Game Pass Core. Microsoft has requested testers to provide feedback if they come across any Xbox Live Gold interface elements within the Xbox Game Pass Core.

The Xbox Game Pass Core was introduced in mid-July and will be available for $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. The subscription will include a catalog of 25 games, which will be updated 2-3 times per year.
Some of the games included are Among Us, Descenders, Dishonored 2, Doom Eternal, Fable Anniversary, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Grounded, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Wars 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Human Fall Flat, Inside, Ori & The Will of the Wisps, Psychonauts 2, State of Decay 2, and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
Xbox Live Gold will cease to run on September 1st. This subscription was initially launched by Microsoft in 2002.
