Microsoft started rolling out the March update for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles. This is a relatively minor update that only brings several improvements.
Turn off the enhancements for aged games
However, games that support recently announced FPS Boost now allow users to turn off the enhancements. You can experience such a game in its original form by turning off the FPS Boost and Auto HDR toggles. To apply the change, you need to restart the game. After that, press the Xbox button on a controller and check the enhancements indicators in the top-right corner of the screen.
Do note that Auto HDR and FPS Boost toggles are available only in several games that support new backward compatibility features. Microsoft is working with developers to bring these capabilities to other games as well.
Xbox Subscriptions
Besides the visual enhancement settings, Microsoft is bringing a new way to manage your gaming subscriptions. Now, you can check all the information about a subscription, such as last charge, next charge, expiry date, etc. Also, you can quickly update your payment method, change a plan, or learn more about available subscriptions. To access this section, go to Settings – Account.
TV Listings in OneGuide
Another important change is TV Listings in OneGuide. Based on customer feedback and engagement data, Microsoft is removing TV listings from OneGuide on Xbox One. Still, you can keep using OneGuide to view connected HDMI devices or TV tuners.
My games & apps section improvements
Finally, there are several under-the-hood improvements to the My games & apps section. Microsoft says it improved the performance and reduced the loading time. It is now easier to see what parts of purchase fit your console the best. Instead of pressing Install all, you can select Choose what to install.
The March update is available for the original Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. However, some capabilities are limited to the newer generation. For example, FPS Boost and Auto HDR work only on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. You can learn more about the March update on the official Xbox website.
