New evidence has surfaced confirming that the upcoming feature update for Windows 11, version 25H2 , will be built on the same platform as the current version 24H2 - the Germanium platform. In essence, both versions will share a common codebase, with 25H2 being distributed as a lightweight cumulative update that activates new features and improvements without requiring a complete system overhaul.
This information was uncovered in the system files of the latest Windows 11 Insider build for the Canary channel. Specifically, the user Xeno on the X platform discovered the entry "GE25H2" with the build number 26200 ("HostOSBuildNumber") embedded in the AppraiserRes.dll library.
Windows 11 builds 26200 are currently being tested by insiders on the Dev channel. Windows 11 version 25H2 is expected to be released this fall.
