Windows 10 comes with a Lock Screen feature in addition to the Logon screen where you type the password. It is an additional screen which is displayed with a fancy background and some useful information like clock and date. It appears before you can pick a user account to sign in. When you lock your computer, again you will see the Lock screen. Microsoft removed the ability to disable the Lock Screen in Windows 10 Anniversary for Pro and Home users. Here is a freeware tool which will allow you to disable the Lock Screen feature in Windows 10 Anniversary Update version 1607.
Windows 10 Anniversary Update comes with an updated Group Policy which locks certain options to Enterprise and Education editions only. This includes the ability to disable the Lock screen. There are a number of solutions already available to disable the Lock screen in Windows 10 Anniversary Update, for example, see this:
Disable Lock Screen in Windows 10 Anniversary Update version 1607
However, if it doesn't work for you as expected, you can try LockScreenGone, a small freeware app which modifies one of the system files in Windows 10 to keep the Lock screen disabled.
Disable Lock Screen in Windows 10 Anniversary Update with LockScreenGone
- Download the app using the following link:
Download LockScreenGone - Extract all the files from the ZIP archive to any folder you want. You will get the following files:
- Double click the Install.cmd file to apply the patch. It will modify the file "LogonController.dll" in your c:\windows\system32 folder. The original file will be backed up, so you can restore it if something goes wrong or if you decide to rollback the change.Note: you can run the Install.cmd file once again to undo the patch.
- Restart Windows 10 and you are done!
Before:
For future updates, the author of the patch suggests that you delete the backup file manually in order to run the cmd file again.
That's it. The author of the patch is "dobbelina". You can contact the author at the following thread at MDL Forums.
Note that in an OS like Windows 10 which keeps constantly evolving, Microsoft can make the patch invalid any time if the LogonController.dll file gets updated. So the Lock screen will return if the original file gets restored by an update.

Haha. I got you.
But it is me and my preferences.

Nothing prevent you from having those beautiful images instead of the ‘green background’, as you called it.
The trick is for people who would like to avoid additional clicks, that’s it.
Congratulations for all your phantastic work. And thank you much for letting me use your knowledge.
