Linux Mint 18 XFCE final is available

Linux Mint developers have released the final version of the XFCE edition. Xfce is my desktop environment of choice over MATE and Cinnamon. Let's see what is new in this release.

Linux Mint 18 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2021. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use.

While the XFCE edition comes with the same XFCE version 4.12 as Linux Mint 17, it features updated software:

  • Kernel: 4.4:
  • Firefox 47:
  • VLC 2.2:
  • Gimp 2.8.16:
  • LibreOffice 5.1:
