When I turn on my computer, this box pops up with html code and will not allow me to close it. Even if I follow both sets of directions here, when I reinstall the program I get a similar box titled Skip Metro Suite Setting, with no ability to disable the applications. I even dug through my hard drive and deleted all files that I could find that were related. Has anyone else experienced this issue that may know how to fix it?
Can you make a screenshot of that html code box?
I have the same problem. It started when i updated to win 8.1. I’ll try to make a screenshot when i get back to my computer.

A while back I tried your Skip Metro suite then uninstalled it because I have Windows 8.1 and used other methods. Recently a window started to pop up every time I start the computer. It informs me of a new version available, 3.1.0.0. How do I stop your pop up window for this software?
how do you uninstalled it? it is still installed and works on your pc
I have the exact same problem. I have gotten rid of everything I could find and yet this stupid box persists.
Same here. I cannot find Skip Metro Suite anywhere on my computer, but every time I boot up, I get a message to install the upgrade. When I install it, I cannot find it anywhere to start it up – it’s not in All programs and it’s not available to uninstall. I have Win10 and I don’t need it anymore. Can someone delete me from the system so it doesn’t think I need to upgrade?
From the article:
Привет Сергей, такая же проблема…. жутко неудобно и больше всего бесит, что ничего не сделать) Разберись пожалуйста с этим вопросом, спасибо.
Уже разобрался
I’ve attempted to uninstall Skip Metro Suite now that I have Windows 8.1. After following the instructions on how to uninstall it, a window pops up, telling me:
“Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.”
It refuses to let me deselect the enable box. Additionally, the same HTML code box mentioned before continues to pop up for me every time I start up my computer. How do I successfully uninstall Skip Metro Suite?
I have the same problem, it is not fixed yet…
I for one LOVE the skip metro suite application! My operating system was upgraded against my wishes to 8.1 (tried to stop it but could not do so) HOWEVER, Skip Metro Suite is still working well! YES!!!!! Until I have problems with Skip Metro Suite, I will leave well enough alone! ;-) THANK YOU for giving us a way to work around Microsoft’s collective stupidity!!!!!
Don’t write bullshit please. Especially things like “Russian heritage”.
Even if you are 71yo, it doesn’t give you such a permission.
You have installed the application yourself, or someone from your family.
I can guess it was done when/if your PC was running Windows 8.
After the upgrade to Windows 8.1 nobody removed it, so once I released a new version, which is 3.1 and not 3.3 as you incorrectly mentioned, it started to offer the upgrade.

This is exactly your case, and exactly what you need (and other people which do not want to re-download the app to uninstall it).
Warning: Regsitry editing and Reboot are mandatory steps. If you omit them, you will not be able to sign in to Windows 8.1
Also, you re-download the app and untick the “Enable” option, it will do everything mentioned in the instruction above and nothing else.

Taskbar properties your are playing with are related to Windows 8.1’s built-in options and not related to Skip Metro Suite.

I have been running Windows 10 successfully for a year. Now, when I start or restart my laptop., I get the pop-up message that Skip Metro 3.1 however I don’t use Skip Metro since upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10. How do I get rid of this pop-up? I can’t find a root for it anywhere.
Tell me please which exactly step in this article is unclear for you.
Please have an option to disable the update popup that happens when you start your computer. It’s annoying as [censored].
It is already added in the latest version.
have 8.1. dont need this suite anymore but have tried getting rid of it the way you suggested and it’s still there and it’s not in same place in registry as you say. it’s in shell in MUIcache in two places there
included screencap. i want rid of this completly, the pop up is annoying the hell out of me.

also to note, your info about how to ‘How to skip the Start screen and boot directly to Desktop in Windows 8.1’
doesn’t work. it says sorry nothing found on blog, so either youve got rid of that info or moved the article and not changed the link.

Since i tried it, i started having paged pool memory leak when i copy or move files,
Explaining:
My paged pool on a normal computer is at 280mb, copying 30gb of a folder which contains alot of small and big files, (pictures, mp3, vids,…), paged pool after that 285mb, “normal”
On the same exact OS but different computer that i have tried skip metro on,
Copying the 30gb folder, paged pool went from 235mb to 560mb, (after deleting the copied folder 280mb)!
Copying or moving files larger than 1gb the paged pool will not change, BUT if copy or move smaller files, the paged poll will keep growing,v and wont get smaller after that, the only way it release the memory cashed is by DELETING the actual files i just copied or moved!
I have tired all possible solution but i cannot pin point the cause the memory leak, and i olnly had this problem after i tried Skip metro., All drivers are the same i had and there is no new drivers running!
Any suggestion!
Uninstall Skip Metro Suite and see if this changes the situation. I am pretty sure the problem is not related to the app.
