In Windows 8, the Task Manager was completely redesigned and even though I prefer using the old one, I do occasionally switch to the new one. Unfortunately, the new Task Manager does not even remember the last active tab. I use the Startup tab a lot. Today, I would like to share with you a secret hidden way to launch the Task Manager directly on the Startup tab. You can create a shortcut to open it on the Startup tab.
Press the Win + R hotkeys on your keyboard together and paste the following text in the Run box:
taskmgr /0 /startup
Press Enter, and voila - Task Manager will be opened with the Startup tab active:
Very useful. If you were used to using msconfig.exe to manage startup items, this is a faster way to do it. You can even create a shortcut to Task Manager that bypasses the UAC prompt using this method.
You can also assign the shortcut a global hotkey of your choice to manage startup apps quickly!
