Let's see how to configure disk quotas in Windows 10.The NTFS file system allows administrators to control the amount of data that each user can store on an NTFS file system volume. Administrators can optionally configure the system to log an event when users are near their quota, and to deny further disk space to users who exceed their quota. Administrators can also generate reports, and use the event monitor to track quota issues.
The Disk Quota feature can be enabled for an individual drive, or forced for all drives. Also, there are a number of options you can adjust for disk quotas. Before proceeding, ensure that your user account has administrative privileges. Now, follow the instructions below.
To Enable Disk Quotas In Windows 10,
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the This PC folder.
- Right-click on the NTFS drive you want to enable disk quotas for, and select Properties from the context menu.
- Switch to the Quota tab, and click on the Show Quota Settings button.
- Turn on the Enable disk quota management option.
- Turn on the Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit option if needed.
- Under Select the default quota limit for new users on this volume, select Limit disk space, and specify the amount of space you want for the limit and before a warning is shown to the user.
- Finally, click Apply and OK.
- Restart Windows 10.
You are done.
Note: You can always turn off disk quotas by clearing the options Enable quota management and Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit, and by setting disk quota limits to Do not limit disk usage option. Also, you can modify the quota limit and its warning level later at any moment.
Additionally, you can set a disk quota for specific user accounts. Here's how it can be done.
Enable Disk Quota for a Specific User
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the This PC folder.
- Right-click on the NTFS drive you want to enable disk quotas for, and select Properties from the context menu.
- Switch to the Quota tab, and click on the Show Quota Settings button.
- Turn on the Enable disk quota management option.
- Turn on the Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit option if needed.
- Click on the button Quota Entries.
- In the next dialog, double-click on the user account you want to set a disk quota for. If you don't see that account in the list, select Quota > New Quota Entry... from the menu.
- In the next dialog, click on the Advanced button.
- Click on the Find now button.
- From the list, select the user account for which you want to specify a disk quota, and click OK.
- Click OK to add a new disk quota entry.
- In the next dialog, select Limit disk space, and specify the amount of space you want for the limit and before a warning is shown to the user.
- Click on Apply and OK.

How do I fix this?
Do you have the ‘fakeuser’ user account in your Windows 10? Specify any existing user account instead.
