Windows 11 contains a brand-new Settings app with an updated design and layout. Apart from visual changes, it also brought some new features and previously missing capabilities, for example, an updated network status page in Windows 11. Now, you can get more information about your Internet connection without switching to the old Control Panel.

Check Internet Connection Status in Windows 11

  1. Open the Windows Settings app. You can do that by pressing the Win + I shortcut, using search, or the Start menu.
  2. Go to the Network and Internet.
  3. Click Advanced Network Settings.
  4. In the list of network adapters, find the one you want to check. It can be Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, depending on what kind of connection you are using.
  5. Click the network adapter to expand its section and check its status. There you can see the adapter's name, current state, bytes received/sent, link speed, and connection duration.

Done! It is a great improvement over Windows 10, where all that data is only available in the ancient Control Panel.

How to find network properties in Windows 11

  1. Go to Windows Settings (Win + I) > Network and Internet > Advanced Network Settings.
  2. Select the adapter which properties you want to check in Windows 11.
  3. Select the View additional properties option.
  4. On the next screen, you can change IP and DNS assignments in Windows 11 by clicking the corresponding buttons. Below those buttons, Windows 11 shows all the information about your adapter: IPv6/IPv4 addresses, primary DNS suffix, and details about the adapter.
  5. You can press the Copy button to copy network properties in Windows 11 and then paste it into any app or document.

Alternatively, you can list all network adapters properties on a single screen by opening Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Hardware and connection properties.

How to find classic network connection and adapters

You can open the classic Control Panel using the Win + R shortcut and the control command. Then, navigate to the Network and Internet section.

Alternatively, open Windows Settings > Network and Internet > Advanced Network Settings > More network adapter options.

Clicking that link will bring the old Control Panel window with all available network adapters.

    Is there a way to right click on the network icon in the bottom right corner and have an option to click to goto control panels Network and Internet section?
