Microsoft is actively promoting their upcoming Windows 10 operating system and has even released a special update for Windows 7 and Windows 8 which offers you to "reserve" the license for Windows 10 right now using your existing genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8 license. I am getting many emails from people who are not happy to see such nagging offers. If you would like to cancel Windows 10 reservation, here is how you do it.
Earlier, I wrote how to get rid of the Windows 10 reservation app. Microsoft has not made it easy and not obvious, as the application has no entry in "Uninstall a program (Programs and Features)". As I mentioned in the previous article, it can be done via the Windows Update: Control Panel -> Installed Updates. Here is another way, offered by our Czech reader, Tony.
- Click on the Windows 10 reservation tray icon to bring up its main window.
- In the application's main window, click on the hamburger icon.
- Go to “Display the confirmation” -> “Reject reservation”. Click Reject reservation.
That's it. This will cancel Windows 10 reservation. Thanks to Tony for sharing this tip.
Alternatively, you might prefer uninstalling the Windows 10 reservation app completely so you never get prompted again.
