In recent Windows 11 build, a new hidden feature has been discovered that allows you to put custom drawn stickers over your wallpaper. It comes in addition to put the predefined sets of stickers, and works in pair with it. Here are the steps you need to take to get the feature working.Since February 2022 Microsoft is tinkering with Desktop Stickers - a feature that allows the user to put fancy images over the background image. They appear as a top layer, so they remain on their places when you change the wallpaper. It is possible to add one that just one sticker, resize and move them.
The user can add and remove stickers from the context menu of the desktop background. But Microsoft goes even further. Now you can draw your own stickers in addition to those that are available by default. As of the moment of this writing, this feature is hidden, so you have to enable it manually.
Before proceeding, make sure you are running the most recent Insider Preview build, which is 25267 in the Dev channel. You can find what build you have installed by typing winver in the Run dialog box (Win + R).
Now do the following.
Enable Sticker Drawing on Desktop in Windows 11
- Right-click the desktop and see if you have the Add or edit stickers in the context menu. If not, turn on the stickers feature as described in our dedicated tutorial.
- Now,download ViveTool from GitHub and extract its files to the c:\vivetool folder.
- Right-click the windows icon in the taskbar (the Start button) and select Terminal(Admin) from the menu.
- Finally, type the following command and press Enter:
c:\vivetool\vivetool /enable /id:36165848.
- Restart Windows 11.
- Right-click the Desktop and select Add or edit stickers.
- Now, click on the pencil icon and draw anything you like right on the wallpaper.
- Click the Done button to save your drawing.
The drawing tool allows you to select line thickness and color. There is also an eraser option. Saved stickers can later be moved or edited.
As Stickers are a work in progress, the drawing mode has a few limitations. Your wallpaper fit must be set to Fill in Personalization. Also, you cannot use the feature with more than one monitor. However, the one can try to bypass the second limitation by directly running microsoftwindows.desktopstickereditorcentennial.exe.
