Google is using everything that is on the Internet to train its AI

Google has recently updated its privacy policy, allowing the company to utilize information from indexed websites to train its Bard neural network. This new policy took effect on July 1, 2023.

By using data from indexed sites, Google aims to leverage the internet as a platform for training its artificial intelligence systems. The company states that this approach will enable them to develop products and features such as Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI.

Previously, Google's policy mentioned the use of data for "language models" rather than "AI models," and did not specifically reference Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI.

Google and OpenAI both rely on open data for AI training, which has led to some platform leaders implementing changes. For instance, Twitter and Reddit have modified their platform policies and restricted free access to their APIs. Unfortunately, these measures have affected the functionality of third-party tools that many users relied on for accessing these platforms.

In fact, Google doesn't necessarily need to access the entire internet for AI training. Accessing free APIs from major websites like Stack Overflow, Reddit, Twitter, and others would provide enough data to train a well-performing AI model. And if objections arise, Google may do a trick with excluding those from the data set along with its search results, citing privacy policy guidelines.

The most recent privacy policy is here.

  1. It seems that a lot of big names have their own “in house” versions of A.I. these days – I do wonder if all these versions will collaborate, unify, and form a covert, self-evolving, global, sentient, dominant, master A.I. !!! – Then what ???
