The Microsoft Connect(); // 2016 developers event happened this Wednesday and some interesting announcements were made there. One of them is that Google is now a member of the .NET Foundation and will expand .NET support in its services, including the Google Cloud Platform. Google has already been one of the most active contributors even before joining the .NET Foundation for the past two years and now will be more involved in developing the future of .NET.
Lead Program Manager for Google Cloud Developer Tools, Chris Sells said that joining the .NET Foundation will help Google improve the transition process from 'classic software' to the Cloud for enterprises. That includes all of the .NET Core projects. He also added that Google is "very happy to add .NET support to the list of supported frameworks".
Working with other members of the foundation, Google will also bring Google Cloud Platform support to Visual Studio, PowerShell and other products and services from the members of the foundation, including Microsoft, Red Hat, JetBrains, Samsung and Unity.
