A new version of the most popular web browser, Google Chrome is out. Version 68 has reached the stable branch and is now available for Windows, Linux, Mac and Android. The full browser version is Chrome 68.0.3440.75. The key changes in this version are as follows.
All HTTP sites are flagged as not secure
Google Chrome 68 marks any web site which uses plain HTTP for connections as not secure. It adds a 'Not secure' text badge to the left portion of the address bar instead of the small icon previously displayed next to the page URL. See the following screenshot:
A refined look for the bookmarks bar
The material design on the bookmarks page and extensions page can't be turned off any more using flags. Also, the bookmarks bar is now touch friendly. It takes up more space by having padding around the icons and text.
Rich search suggestions
The browser includes a new experimental 'rich search suggestions' feature. It can be enabled using the flag chrome://flags/#omnibox-rich-entity-suggestions. When enabled, it makes the browser add more details and thumbnail images of websites to the drop down list of suggestions for the address bar.
