Microsoft's GitHub CEO Nat Friedman has announced that he leaves his role. From November 15th, he will be replaced by Thomas Domke, who is currently the Chief Product Officer of GitHub. The appropriate information is posted on the GitHub blog.
Microsoft officials said GitHub's mission will not change. The service will remain independent. It will continue to be a platform and cloud neutral. It is noted that Nat Friedman will become the "Chairman Emeritus" of GitHub. GitHub is Microsoft's property since 2018. Friedman's management caused a number of changes to GitHub welcomed by the developer community.
However, these are not all changes.
GitHub currently reports to Microsoft Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie. But in the near future, the GitHub director will report directly to Julia Liuson, who will take over as president of Microsoft's developer division.
Thomas Domke is working on GitHub for last 3 years. Earlier, he was associated with the HockeyApp company specialized on mobile data analytics. Microsoft acquired HockeyApp in 2014.
