Firefox will get the direct extension removal feature

Firefox 64 is the upcoming version of the popular browser. As of this writing, it is available to users on the Beta channel. Its recent builds feature a nice option in the extension context menu that will allow removing an extension directly from the browser.

Firefox 64 represents the branch built with the new Quantum engine. It comes with a refined user interface, codenamed "Photon". The browser now comes without support for XUL-based add-ons, so all of the classic add-ons are deprecated and incompatible. See

Version 64 comes with a number of changes useful to Windows 10 users. I have already written about its new important features. Check out the article:

In addition, there is a new ability to delete an installed extension right from the context menu of the extension's button on the toolbar.

If you want to try this new feature, install Firefox 64 beta or Nightly (which represents Firefox 65 as of this writing),  then right-click on the extension you want to remove. The context menu includes a new command (see the screenshot below).

The browser will show a confirmation dialog. Confirm the operation by clicking on the 'Remove' button to get rid of the extension.

Besides this change, the team behind the browser is working on adding more improvements to extension processing, including a new design of the 'Extensions' page, and a new notification that appears when the user has installed a new extension.

It is worth mentioning that other popular browsers like Google Chrome/Chromium, and many browsers that are based on Chromium include the same option for quite a long time.

Firefox 64 should reach the stable branch in December 2018.
