Firefox 130, which is currently in Nightly and is expected to be released on September 3, will be able to automatically open picture-in-picture when switching from the tab where the video is displayed. So if you were watching something, but switched the tab, the video will open in a flyout. After returning to the original tab with the video, the picture-in-picture mode will be automatically disabled.
As of now, automatic activation of the picture-in-picture mode can be enabled in the settings in the "Firefox Labs" section.
Today, all web browsers come with a picture-in-picture feature. Pioneered by the Opera app, it is now available in most Chromium browsers. PiP is a relatively new option to Firefox. This enables users to detach a video from its webpage into a compact, always-visible window. Browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox further offer the convenience of controlling video playback through straightforward media buttons.
With Picture-in-Picture, a video hosted on a supported web site (e.g. YouTube) will appear in its own window. It is possible to resize it and change its position. I covered PiP in Firefox back in 2019.

Advertisеment
It is a very interesting experimental feature! I love Mozilla for making great improvements in the last few months.
Firefox is a great browser! I’ve been running it since it was in beta many years ago. Too bad more people don’t find it. However, it has had ups and downs as well.
However, I have to wait a long time for this function as I use an ESR. I think I’ll have to wait until v140 for it, which I want to remember will be a new ESR. However, I am not in a hurry and it will come when it comes.
