Firefox 74.0.1 and 68.6.1 with Critical Flaws Fixed

Mozilla has rolled out a Firefox 74.0.1 and Firefox 68.6.1 ESR. If you are a Firefox user, you should update your web browser ASAP, as the company has resolved two critical vulnerabilities in Firefox, and exploits are already available.

The fixed vulnerabilities are

  • CVE-2020-6819: Use-after-free while running the nsDocShell destructor. Under certain conditions, when running the nsDocShell destructor, a race condition can cause a use-after-free.
  • CVE-2020-6820: Use-after-free when handling a ReadableStream. Under certain conditions, when handling a ReadableStream, a race condition can cause a use-after-free.

To install the update manually,

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Press Alt+H.
  3. Select Help > About Firefox from the main menu.
  4. This will make the browser check for updates and install the latest available version of the app.
