What's new in Firefox 141
AI-driven tab grouping
One of the standout additions in Firefox 141 is experimental support for AI-driven tab grouping. A locally executed model analyzes browsing context to identify related tabs and suggests groupings.
Users can access these suggestions via a new “Suggest more of my tabs” button when dragging or right-clicking tabs. The AI also proposes descriptive group names.
This feature will roll out gradually.
The browser now allows resizing of the tool area in the vertical tabs sidebar. Users can adjust the divider to balance space between tabs and tools, with overflow tools moving to a dropdown menu.
Unit converter in address bar
The address bar includes a built-in unit converter for time zones, angles, distances, temperatures, mass, and force, with results easily copied to the clipboard.
WebGPU and WGSL support
On Windows, WebGPU and WGSL support are now enabled by default, unlocking low-level GPU access for high-performance web applications. Linux and macOS users can enable WebGPU manually via configuration settings, with default activation expected in future releases. This update enhances rendering efficiency.
Android changes
Android improvements include domain highlighting in the address bar, enhanced PDF sharing on Android, and automatic private tab locking when switching apps.
Linux changes
Linux builds benefit from reduced memory usage and eliminate the need for restarts after package manager updates.
Autofill
For users in Brazil, Spain, and Japan, form autofill for addresses is now available, expanding a feature previously limited to select regions.
Other changes
Firefox 141 also resolves 27 security vulnerabilities, 13 of which stem from memory management flaws such as buffer overflows and use-after-free conditions. These fixes mitigate potential risks of remote code execution from malicious web content.
