File Explorer is getting Git integration

Microsoft has officially announced that Explorer in Windows 11 will gain integration with version control systems, including Git. This will allow you to track changes and comments in projects without using extra apps or web services.

However, Microsoft didn't detail if you still need to install something, e.g. a console Git app, or you will be able to directly open a repo right in Explorer. The latter could allow you to browse GitHub projects.

In the official announcement, Microsoft points that File Explorer now allows creating archives in 7-Zip and TAR formats, so it will soon become available to wider audience.
