Every time Microsoft releases a new Windows version, there is also a list of features deprecated or removed from the OS. With every Windows 10 release the removal list grows. Here's what is removed from Windows 10 version 20H2.
Microsoft has released Windows 10 version 20H2 to consumers and customers. It is now available through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Windows Update for Business, and can be downloaded from Visual Studio Subscriptions, via the company's web site, using Update Assistant or the Media Creation Tool, and the Volume Licensing Service Center.
As Windows 10 version 20H2, October 2020 Update, is a minor update, it doesn't bring major changes to the OS. Same for the feature removal. The list sports just one feature.
MBAE service metadata | The MBAE app experience is replaced by an MO UWP app. Metadata for the MBAE service is removed. |
There are no deprecated features in this release.
Microsoft Windows 10 version 20H2 is the successor to the May 2020 Update, version 2004 released in May 2020. Windows 10 version 20H2 is a minor update with a smaller set of enhancements focused primarily on select performance improvements, enterprise features, and quality enhancements. This has a total showstopper bug, not just for me, but it also has been reported on the MS support forums.
It breaks saved searches. Go and test it: Create a virtual machine; install 2004 from the ISO. Create a txt file on the desktop, run %windir%\explorer.exe search-ms: and search for txt. Save the search on the desktop. Upgrade to 20H2. I did it from the ISO too, to avoid any online update and make sure it’s just 20H2. If you open the saved search and try to open the txt file from the window, it will give you an error message saying that the “directory name” is “invalid”. This doesn’t happen with pictures, but with office documents, too.
The last working build is .450. 500 and above are broken.
