Starting June of the current year, Epic Games will cease support for the Windows 7 and 8 operating systems within the Epic Games Store client. A similar move applies to the 32-bit version of Windows 10. As a result, the Epic Games Store will only be compatible with 64-bit Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS 10.13 or later.
Following June, the Epic Games Store will remain accessible on Windows 7, 8, and 32-bit Windows; however, Epic will no longer offer technical support or introduce new features. Eventually, the client may cease functioning on these operating systems altogether.
Due to the additional effort involved in maintaining and optimizing software for legacy systems, some companies opt to discontinue updatesfor such operating systems.
Valve has already stopped supporting the Windows 7 and 8/8.1 versions of the Steam client as of January 1, 2024, with new versions of the software exclusively compatible with Windows 10/11. Similarly, Riot recently announced that its projects will no longer be supported on Windows 7 and 8.
