Groove Music is one of the built-in apps in Windows 10. It is a music streaming app created using the Universal Windows Apps platform. Microsoft is actively working on this app. With recent updates, the application got the built-in Equalizer feature. Here is how to enable and configure it.
The app gradually received the Fluent Design makeover and was going to get Music Visualizations, an Equalizer, Spotlighted Playlists, Playlist Personalization and Auto Playlist Generation. These were all long-awaited features which are already available in other music streaming services but weren't built into Groove. The recent update does add equalizer improvements.
The equalizer feature in Groove Music is implemented as a 5 band graphic equalizer ranging from low to high frequencies. The level adjustment for each band is between -12 and +12 decibels. It also includes a number of presets. At the moment of this writing, the presets are as follows:
- Flat
- Treble boost
- Bass boost
- Headphones
- Laptop
- Portable speakers
- Home stereo
- TV
- Car
- Custom
When you are changing settings for a preset, the app switches to the Custom option automatically.
The application doesn't include any option to save your current settings as a preset, which is not convenient.
To enable Equalizer in Groove Music in Windows 10, do the following.
- Launch Groove Music. It is pinned to the Start menu by default.
- In the left pane, click on the gear icon to open the app's settings.
- In Settings, click on the link Equalizer under Playback.
- In the drop-down menu, select the desired preset.
The Flat preset, when selected, disables the equalizer.
Instead of selecting a preset, you can adjust the equalizer options for the following bands and frequencies.
- Low
- Mid low
- Mid
- Mid high
- High
Set the desired value for each band and you are done.
Note: The Equalizer feature is available in the Groove Music app included with Windows 10 Build 17083, app version 10.17112.1531.0, and above.
That's it.

Hey, Thanks for your Suggestion about equalizer groove music windows 10. I’m in worry about my rooms sound system. I’m going to set this format now on my pc. Thanks again for your cooperation.
i cant seem to save it, when ever i wanna just see whats the next music playing, the equalizer effect goes away
How does i fix???
But is there a way to tweak the equalizer while the music is playing? I can’t find a way to go to Groove settings while the music is playing…
This only works if Groove gives you the Playback option under settings. Mine doesn’t even display that, and I can’t find any way to update it. Why does Microsoft stuff always suck? Why would you even ever produce a music app that DOESN’T have one from the beginning???
