Copilot on New Tab Page

Starting at the end of May 2025, users may begin to see suggested work and productivity-related Copilot prompts appearing near the search box on the NTP. These prompts are designed to help users quickly access AI-assisted features for tasks such as summarizing content, generating emails, or organizing information - all without needing to switch tabs or applications.

In addition, a Copilot icon will appear inside the search box, allowing users to easily send their current search query directly to Copilot by simply clicking the icon. This intuitive integration aims to streamline workflows and provide intelligent assistance within the familiar context of the user’s browsing session.

All Copilot administrative policies remain in effect, ensuring that organizations can continue to control and manage access to Copilot features according to their specific compliance and security requirements. The updated NTP experience is being rolled out across all Microsoft Edge release channels, including Stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary.

Note: These features are part of a controlled feature rollout. Not all users may see the changes immediately. Microsoft encourages users to check back over time as the rollout continues.

Fixes Included in This Update

  • Extensions Stability: Fixed an issue that caused certain extensions—particularly those that launch and maintain windows—to be paused in the background when minimized or occluded. This update ensures that extensions designed to run continuously now function reliably.
  • Defender Application Guard: Resolved a bug that caused the Microsoft Defender Application Guard window to close automatically one minute after launch, without requiring any user interaction.
  • PDF Rendering Improvements: Addressed an issue affecting the display of text and rendering inconsistencies in PDF files containing Japanese fonts, enhancing readability and user experience.

Existing users will get the updated browser automatically. Otherwise, you can download it from its home page.
