If you have a desktop PC or a laptop with a touch screen, you may be already know that Windows 10 can show visual feedback around the touch pointer every time you touch the screen. Today, we will see how to disable or enable this feature using two methods.
Windows 10 comes with a number of options which can be used to configure the touch visual feedback feature. You can enable it to make the OS show a circle mark around your finger every time you touch the screen.
You can make the mark darker, or disable it completely and get rid of the touch visual feedback feature. You can use either Settings or a Registry tweak.
To disable touch visual feedback in Windows 10, do the following.
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to Ease of Access - Cursor, pointer and touch feedback.
- On the right, turn off the toggle option Show visual feedback when I touch the screen.
- Touch visual feedback is now disabled.
You are done.
To enable the feature again, just turn on the option mentioned above.
Tip: You can make the touch visual feedback icon darker and larger. There is a special option under Settings - Ease of Access - Cursor, pointer and touch feedback named Make visual feedback darker and larger. Enable it and you are done.
Alternatively, you can apply a Registry tweak to disable or enable the touch visual feedback feature. Do it as follows.
Disable Touch Visual Feedback with a Registry tweak
- Open the Registry Editor app.
- Go to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Cursors
.
Tip: See how to go to the desired Registry key with one click. - Modify or create a new 32-bit DWORD value ContactVisualization. Note: Even if you are running 64-bit Windows you must still create a 32-bit DWORD value.
- Set its value data to one of the following values:
0 - disable touch visual feedback.
1 - enable touch visual feedback.
2 = enable touch visual feedback and make it darker and larger. - Modify or create a new 32-bit DWORD value GestureVisualization and set its value data in decimal to
0 - to disable the touch visual feedback feature.
31 - enable the feature.
So, to manage touch visual feedback with the Registry tweak, you need to change the two DWORD values mentioned above.
To save your time, you can download the following ready-to-use Registry files:

I am working on turning off visual feedback when my APP starts. It seems like the Control Panel doesn’t detect registry changes until the computer is restarted ? (The setting in control panel is unchanged, and visual feedback is still on after registry change.)
