Windows 10 allows you to control the size and positioning of open windows better by dragging them to the edge of the screen. If you drag a window using its title bar to the top edge of the screen, it will be maximized. With the mouse pointer touching the left or right edges of the screen when dragging a window, it will be snapped to the left or right side of the screen respectively. However, this can trigger accidental resizing or repositioning of the window. If you don't like this snapping feature of the window manager, you might want to disable it completely.
The Aero Snap feature can be turned off via the Easy of Access settings in Control Panel. Many users are unaware of this setting because the Ease of Access Center UI is anything but easy. In recent Windows 10 releases, you can use the Settings app instead of the classic Control Panel. We'll review both methods.

To disable Aero Snap in Windows 10, do the following.
- Open Settings.
- Go to to System -> Multitasking.
- On the right, disable the option Arrange windows automatically by dragging them to the sides or corners of the screen.
- This will disable the Snap feature.
You are done!
Note: Instead of disabling the Snap feature completely, you can customize the Aero Snap options using the options:
- When I snap more than one window, automatically adjust the size of the windows(Snap Fill).
- When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it(Snap Assist).
- When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped window.
These options can be changed in Settings when the Snap feature is enabled.
Disable Aero Snap with Control Panel in Windows 10
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to the following path:
Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\Make the mouse easier to use
- Scroll to the bottom of this page. There, you will find an option called "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen".
Turn it on, and click Apply. At once, Aero Snap will be disabled.
The same can be done using Winaero Tweaker. Go to Behavior -> Disable Aero Snap:
Use this option to avoid Registry editing.
That's it. You can always turn on the Aero Snap feature again by unticking the above mentioned checkbox. In my opinion, Microsoft should have allowed users to hold down a modifier key such as Ctrl, Alt or Shift while dragging to resize or reposition the window. That way, accidental resizing or reposition could have been avoided while the user was moving or resizing the window.

Does not work, I already had the , arrange windows …… slide button in the off position but my windows still expand to fill the screen when they are dragged near the edge of the screen, I can’t understand why anyone would want this annoying feature ever. The reason you shrink the window sizes are so you can have multiple windows open at the same time and visually compare the data or pictures etc. on the different screens.
Now I cannot even shut this thing off. Please Microsoft, don’t pay people to invent shit just to justify their jobs.
