Google has introduced a new feature for Chrome mobile that can help users find typos in URLs. While it is designed for individuals with dyslexia and those who are learning a new language, it can be obviously of help for everyone.
Initially launched in early 2023 for Chrome on PCs, the URL typo checking feature has now been made available on Chrome for Android and iOS. It highlights the error, and offers correction suggestions. Accidental typos is a common thing on touch screen devices, so the new feature can save your time.
Additionally, Google has also added a set of other accessibility enhancements to its mobile apps. These include:
- Highlighting businesses owned by individuals with disabilities on maps using a special icon.
- Enabling the option to have a list of nearby attractions read out loud on maps.
- Identifying businesses that are accessible for individuals with disabilities, featuring unobstructed entries, accessible toilets, and designated parking spots on maps.
Furthermore, Google announced that users with Pixel 5 or newer smartphones can now use their devices as magnifying glasses. The phone's built-in camera acts as a lens via a dedicated app that does zooming in on objects.
