How to Change or Restore Saved Pictures Folder Location in Windows 10
Windows 10 comes with the Pictures folder which is familiar to every user. In most cases, its path is something like C:\Users\SomeUser\Pictures. You can open it quickly by typing %userprofile%\Pictures in File Explorer's address bar.

Once you open This PC\Pictures folder, you will see your Saved Pictures folder:
The Saved Pictures folder is a subfolder inside the Pictures folder in the user profile. It is created by the built-in Photos. The Saved Pictures folder is also the default location for other apps to save pictures. The mentioned Photos app stores there images that you imported from an SD card or camera you have connected to the PC.
To Change the Saved Pictures Folder Location in Windows 10,
- Open This PC in File Explorer, and navigate in the Pictures folder.
- Right-click on the Saved Pictures folder, and select Properties from the context menu.
- In the Properties dialog, go to the Location tab.
- Click on the Move button.
- Browse for the new location for your Saved Pictures folder.
- Click on Apply and OK.
- Click on Yes to move all your files from the old location to the new location when prompted.
You are done.
Here are a couple tips.
- You can use the following shell command to open the
Saved Pictures
folder directly:shell:SavedPictures
. - If the
Saved Pictures
folder is missing in your Pictures folder, you can manually create it, and then move as described above.
To Restore the Default Saved Pictures Folder Location in Windows 10,
- Open This PC in File Explorer,
- Navigate to the current location of your Saved Pictures folder.
- Right-click on the Saved Pictures folder, and select Properties from the context menu.
- In the Properties dialog, go to the Location tab.
- Click on the Restore Default button.
- Click on Apply and OK.
- Click on Yes to create the subfolder under the Pictures folder.
- Now, click on Yes to move all your files from the current location to the new location when prompted.
