How To Change Automatic Maintenance Schedule in Windows 10

In our previous articles, we saw how to disable the Automatic Maintenance feature in Windows 10 and how to stop and start it manually. Today, we'll see how to customize its schedule. Here we go.

As you may already know, Windows 10 performs automatic maintenance. It is a daily scheduled task that runs out-of-the-box. When enabled, it performs various tasks like app updates, Windows updates, security scans and many other things.

By default, Automatic Maintenance is set to wake up your PC and run maintenance tasks at 2 AM. You can change this schedule to any other time you want. Here is how it can be done.

To change the Automatic Maintenance schedule in Windows 10, do the following.

 

1. Open the classic Control Panel app.
2. Go to Control Panel\System and Security\Security and Maintenance. It looks as follows (the screenshot below is from Windows 10 Creators Update version 1703):Note: In the screenshot above, you can see Windows Defender's Antivirus disabled on my PC. 3. Expand the Maintenance box to see the related controls.
4. Click the link "Change maintenance settings". The following page will be opened.
5. Set a new schedule for the Automatic Maintenance.
   
   Note: If you untick the option "Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time", it will not disable the maintenance. To disable it completely, see the article How to disable Automatic Maintenance.
6. Confirm the UAC request if prompted.

You are done.
