A bug in Windows 11 24H2 causes the standard system file checker sfc /scannow to detect corrupted files every time it is launched and scans the disk. Such a bug was first detected by Insiders, but for some reason it made its path to the production version of 24H2.
Windows 11 Build 22631.4387 (Release Preview) brings with it several new features
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 22631.4387 to Insiders in the Release Preview channel. It comes via KB5044380 and applies to version 23H2 (Build 22631). It is notable for adding a Phone Link flyout to the Start menu, a new GamePad layout for the touch keyboard, an option to change what the Copilot key does. It also includes several fixes. Some of the new additions are coming gradually.
Windows 11 24H2 is now available for download via the Media Creation Tool
Microsoft has updated the server files that are intended for the Media Creation Tool. So now, if you download and run the app, it will prepare for you a bootable USB stick with the latest Windows 11 version 24H2. Or, you can use the app to download the latest ISO.

Windows 11 22H2 and 21H2 are no longer supported
Microsoft has terminated support for both Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 21H2. Yesterday's Patch Tuesday was the last hour for them. 21H2 was already discontinued for regular users, but was supported for enterprise customers. Now, 21H2 is not supported for anyone. 22H2 will remain on servicing for Enterprise customers for one extra year. Consumers will no longer receive updates.
Cumulative Updates for Windows, October 8, 2024
Microsoft has rolled out monthly cumulative updates, known as Patch Tuesday, for all supported Windows versions. These updates usually fix known issues and addressing vulnerabilities. However, some of the features from Insider builds may appear after installing these updates, if the company finds them ready for daily use.
Microsoft will start Recall testing in November on Copilot+ devices with AMD and Intel
Microsoft has revealed the upcoming open beta testing of the Recall feature for Windows 11. In October of this year, owners of Copilot+ PC devices with Qualcomm ARM processors will be able to try out the new feature. In November, access to the feature will be expanded to systems equipped with the latest Intel and AMD chips.
Windows 11 Build 26120.1930 (Dev) adds new Sandbox Preview, settings for Copilot key
Windows 11 Build 26120.1930 (KB5044388) is now coming to Dev channel insiders. Similarly to the Beta channel, some of the new features are coming only to users with the "Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available" setting enabled. Specially, this build improves Unicode fonts, updates the Windows Sandbox Preview client, allows changing what the Copilot key does, and includes several fixes.
