As you may already know, Windows 10 comes with its own Store app. Like Android has Google Play, and there's the App Store in iOS, the Microsoft Store app (formerly Windows Store) adds the ability to deliver digital content to the end user in Windows.

Thanks to the Store, apps can be installed and updated with one click. In recent Windows 10 builds, editions like Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education no longer require you to be signed in to the Store with a Microsoft account to install apps. Windows 10 allows installing only freeware apps this way. Unfortunately, Windows 10 Home edition still requires an active Microsoft account for all supported operations.
When you have signed in to the Store with your Microsoft account on a new device, you will be able to install the apps you already own (which you previously purchased from another device). Microsoft Store saves the list of your devices for that purpose. You can install your apps and games on up to 10 devices. Music and video are limited to four devices for playback.
If you've reached the device limit, you might be interested in removing some of your devices from being associated with your Microsoft Account. Here is how it can be done.
To remove a Windows 10 download device from Store Account, do the following.
- Open your favorite web browser and navigate to the following page. Sign in with your Microsoft Account if prompted.
- Click on the Remove link next to the device name for the item you want to remove from your account.
- In the next dialog, turn on the option I'm ready to remove this device.
- Click on the Remove button. You will see the message "This PC isn't linked to your store account anymore".
Tip: If you are having issues installing new apps, or if the Store fails to update apps, then it might be useful to reset the Store app. While Windows comes with a special "wsreset.exe" tool, modern versions of Windows 10 provide a more efficient and useful way to reset the app. See
