Here’s how the new Windows 10 Control Center UI looks like

Yesterday Microsoft accidentally released a new 'canary' build of Windows 10 to all Insider rings. Windows 10 Build 18947 includes a new Action Center flyout, referred as 'Control Center for Lite OS'. Here is how it looks.

The Control Center flyout is consists of two parts. One of them includes the Quick Actions, the other one is holding notifications. Both must be familiar to Windows 10 users. The Quick Actions area is a panel with Quick Action buttons like WiFi, Night Light, etc. The set of buttons can be changed by the user. The notification area keeps all the notifications like the current version of Action Center does. The feature might be introduced with Windows 10 20H1 in 2020.

This is the second time the new Control Center is found in Windows 10. Windows 10 Build 16212 was the first build of Windows 10 which had a working version of the flyout.

Users who have Windows 10 Build 18947 installed can enable the new Control Center UI using the following Registry tweak.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Center

UseLiteLayout = 1 (32-bit DWORD)

  1. Why does MS keep spending money changing things that are not broken? The new Control Center Flyout looks awful! There was nothing wrong with the old one.

  2. Would it be too much to get Microsoft to apply the acrylic design in W32 apps??? Thank God BigMuscle came to the rescue.
