Cumulative Updates for Windows 10 September 11, 2018

Microsoft today released a set of cumulative updates for all supported Windows 10 versions. Here is the list of updates with their change logs.

The updates do not include any new features, but they include bug fixes and improvements. They are for PCs only. The following updates were released.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update, KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285)

  • Provides protection against a Spectre Variant 2 vulnerability (CVE-2017-5715) for ARM64 devices.
  • Addresses an issue that causes the Program Compatibility Assistant (PCA) service to have excessive CPU usage. This occurs when the concurrency of two simultaneous add and remove programs (ARP) monitoring threads is not handled correctly.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft scripting engine, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows media, Windows Shell, Windows Hyper-V, Windows datacenter networking, Windows virtualization and kernel, Windows Linux, Windows kernel, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows MSXML, and Windows Server.

To get this update, open Settings - > Update &recovery and click on the Check for Updates button on the right. Alternatively, you can get it from the Windows Update online catalog.

Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft scripting engine, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows media, Windows Shell, Device Guard, Windows datacenter networking, Windows kernel, Windows hyper-V, Windows virtualization and kernel, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows MSXM, and Windows Server.

You can install this update by opening Settings - > Update &recovery and clicking on the Check for Updates button on the right. Alternatively, you can get it from the Windows Update online catalog.

KB4457131 and KB4457132

Additionally, Microsoft released KB4457131 (OS Build 14393.2485) for Windows 10 Anniversary Update and KB4457132 (OS Build 10240.17976) for the initial Windows 10 version.
